Roblox underage gambling: A federal judge in California has given the green light for a lawsuit to proceed against Roblox. The online gaming platform has been accused of facilitating a gambling ring that targets children.

Now, Roblox is set to defend itself in court with its name and reputation potentially in tatters. However, not all of the allegations are set to hold up in a court of law.

This has given it a slight chance of winning the case but it will more than likely come at a huge cost. The RICO charges that were going to be brought toward the firm have been declared as bogus and not genuine.

More worryingly, plaintiffs Richelle Colvin and Danielle Sass argue that Roblox allows minors to freely purchase their online currency. Robux is the digital currency in question and can be acquired via their website.

Then, Robux can be used as a form of legitimate currency and various casinos who accept it as a form of payment. If it does go to court, the consequences could be huge if Roblox are found guilty.

Roblox Child Labor

Roblox is one of the biggest multi-platform online video games on the planet and since its release in 2006, has held generally favorable reviews from users and critics.

However, Roblox has come under fire for supposedly exploiting child labor and not doing enough to protect young players. Top bosses argue that the game can be a ‘gift’ for those who don’t have a great quality of life.

They also suggest that children are able to make a better future for themselves with the earnings that creators generate. Many still consider to be a shady entity.

The alleged exploitative practices towards children indicate minors are subjected to sexual abuse as well as promises of large returns for monetizing their games. In reality, only small amounts or no money at all was returned.

YouTube channel People Make Games, Kim Kardashian and Daniel Kelley of the ADL have all had issues with Roblox’s practices.

At the time of writing, the future looks very uncertain for Roblox with the California judge happy to side with the plaintiffs.
